Privacy Policy
- Slanvi has no accounts, no ads and no tracking. We never sell your data or use it for advertising.
- Your browsing history, favorites, tabs, chats, projects and what Slanvi remembers about you stay on your device.
- When you ask Slanvi's AI a question, your question and anything you add to it go to our server and to the AI services that answer it. They aren't kept after the answer, apart from the short exceptions below.
- A few things you turn on, like the morning brief or a shared chat link, are kept on our server until you turn them off. Each one is listed below.
This policy covers the Slanvi app for iPhone and iPad, its Share sheet, widget and shortcuts (the "app"), and the website slanvi.com, including the Slanvi Studio preview tool and layout script (the "site"). Slanvi is made by Alpine Manor LLC, a Utah company ("we", "us").
What stays on your device
The app stores your history, favorites, reading list, open tabs, downloads, chats, projects and their files, checklists, files and pictures Slanvi made for you, and settings only on your device, in the app's own storage. Deleting a chat deletes its pictures and files. Deleting the app deletes all of it. You can clear history and website data at any time in Settings.
What Slanvi remembers (like your city or your size) is kept only on your device and is never backed up. It goes along with your questions so answers fit you. You can see, change or forget each item in Settings › What Slanvi remembers, or turn memory off.
Private tabs are never saved. Their cookies and website data are erased when you close them, they don't appear in your history, and chats in private tabs aren't saved or remembered. If you turn on the private tab lock, iOS checks your Face ID, Touch ID or passcode. Slanvi only learns whether the check succeeded.
Asking Slanvi's AI
The first time you ask, Slanvi tells you what goes to the cloud AI and asks for your OK. After that, when you ask a question (in a chat, in Talk, from the Share sheet, the widget or a shortcut), the app sends it to our server, which passes it to third-party AI services to write the answer. Depending on what you do, this can include:
- your question and the recent messages in that chat, so the answer follows the conversation;
- the text of the web page you're asking about, when you ask about a page;
- photos you add, pictures from Talk's camera when it's on (only the moment you ask), and pictures you ask Slanvi to change;
- the words of files you add. PDFs and text files are read on your device; documents, spreadsheets and slides are read by our server, which keeps nothing;
- a project's instructions and files, when the chat is in a project;
- what Slanvi remembers about you, so answers fit you.
When a question needs current information, the question (not your identity) is used to search the web, and shopping questions may be looked up with a product search service to show product cards.
Our server doesn't keep your questions, what you added or the answers after the answer is delivered, with one exception: if you leave the app while an answer is being written, the finished answer is held for up to 30 minutes so the app can pick it up. We've turned off the settings that would let our AI services use your questions to train their models.
Voice. When you talk to Slanvi, your words are turned into text by your device (or, when your device can't do it alone, by Apple's speech service). Only the text reaches our server. Answers read aloud are spoken by your device.
Answers are made by AI and can be wrong. Check anything important.
What our server keeps
- An anonymous ID. The app makes a random ID the first time it runs. It contains no name, email or phone number. Our server uses it to count your daily and monthly questions and pictures. The counts expire on their own.
- Slanvi Full. If you subscribe, the app sends Apple's signed proof of your subscription with your questions so our server can give you the larger allowance. Apple also tells our server about renewals, refunds and cancellations. Payment is handled entirely by Apple; we never see your card.
- Notifications. If you turn them on, our server keeps your device's notification address so it can tell you when a long answer is ready or a watched price drops.
- Morning brief. If you turn it on, our server keeps the time, the city you type, the topics you follow and your time zone, to send the brief. It never uses your device's location. Turning the brief off deletes these.
- Shared chat links. If you choose Share link on a chat, its words (not its photos or files) are kept on our server as a page that anyone with the link can read. It isn't listed in search engines. Turning the link off or deleting the chat deletes the page; otherwise it's deleted after a year.
Websites you visit
Pages are loaded by Apple's WebKit, the engine every iPhone browser uses. When you visit a website, that website and the services it uses receive what any browser sends, such as your IP address and the pages you request, under their own privacy policies. Searches go to the search engine you pick in Settings, under that engine's policy.
Other features that contact a third party
- Search suggestions. In normal tabs, what you type in the address bar is sent to your chosen search engine to fetch suggestions, without cookies. Private tabs never send it. You can turn suggestions off in Settings.
- Translate page. On iOS 18 and later, pages are translated on your device. On earlier versions, the page's address is opened through an online translation service.
- Compare these. When you ask Slanvi to compare search results, the app loads those result pages directly from the sites, without cookies.
- iCloud sync, if you turn it on, keeps your favorites, reading list, pairs and open tabs the same on your devices through your own iCloud account. We can't see it.
Features that run on your device
- Ad and tracker blocking uses a list built into the app and applied by iOS. Nothing about the pages you visit is sent to us.
- Finding places near you uses your device's maps search. Your location isn't sent to our server.
- Reminders and calendar events are added only after you tap Add, and stay in your own Reminders and Calendar.
- Calculators and checklists in answers work on your device.
- Fold Reader, including Listen, and the on-device Ask Slanvi (Apple Intelligence) process the page on your device.
Crash reports
If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone or iPad settings, Apple may give us anonymous crash reports. They don't identify you, and we use them only to fix bugs. The app has no analytics of its own.
Who we share with
Only the services that run Slanvi for us: our hosting provider (Vercel), the AI services that write answers, the web and product search services used for current information, and Apple for subscriptions and notifications. They may only use what we send to provide their service to us. We don't sell or share your information for advertising, and we don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
The website and Slanvi Studio
slanvi.com and our server are hosted by Vercel, which keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses and request details, to run and secure the service. When you use the free preview, our server loads the web address you enter and returns screenshots to your browser. We don't keep the address or the screenshots after your request is finished, apart from those standard hosting logs. The Slanvi layout script (s.js) runs in your visitors' browsers to adjust page layout. It doesn't collect or send any data.
If you email us, we use your message and address only to reply and to help you.
Children
Slanvi isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we'll delete it.
Your choices and rights
You control most of your data directly: clear history and chats in the app, forget what Slanvi remembers, turn off the morning brief or a shared link, turn off notifications, or delete the app. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information we hold. For questions or requests, email hello@slanvi.com and tell us your request. Because we don't use accounts, we may need details from you (like the city you set for the morning brief or a shared link's address) to find what we hold.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. If a change affects what leaves your device, we'll also say so in the app before it takes effect.
